Dentastix are a daily chew for small dogs, one stick a day, and Pedigree are specific that they suit dogs between 5kg and 10kg only. The claim is clinically proven to reduce tartar build up by up to 80 percent, developed with the Waltham Petcare Science Institute and externally accredited by the Veterinary Oral Health Council.
Now the part the front of the box does not tell you. Cereals are the first ingredient and the named meats come in as liver, at 4.2 percent chicken and 4.2 percent beef. The active on the tooth is sodium tripolyphosphate at 2.55 percent, which is what binds the calcium in saliva before it hardens onto the tooth. So this is a cereal chew doing a real job, not a meat treat. It also carries 300 kcal per 100g, so count the stick as part of the day.
