An online pet shop everyone can use

100 / 100on Google Lighthouse, Google’s free website testing tool, which anyone can run. Its accessibility score is based on 63 automated checks, from photo descriptions and text contrast to button names and form labels. In October 2026 we checked all 2,144 pages of this site against those checks, and ran 40 of them through Lighthouse itself on phone and computer. Every page passed every check.

Our main shopping pages, from the home page to the basket, also show no errors in two other free checkers, WebAIM’s WAVE and Deque’s axe DevTools, on phone and computer. Automated checks cannot find every problem, so we also check by hand and welcome your feedback.

What we are still working on

• Testing with people who use screen readers and other assistive technology every day. If you would like to help, please get in touch.
• We recheck product photo descriptions each time our catalogue is updated, so new products are covered.
• Checkout, reviews and chat come from Shopify and other companies, so we cannot change their code. Shopify’s checkout stops pinch to zoom on some phones and has some small links. If one gets in your way, WhatsApp or ring us and we will take your order.

What we have done

• A clear navy and yellow outline shows where you are when you use a keyboard
• A Skip to content link takes you straight past the menu
• You can place an order from the home page to payment with a keyboard alone
• Every form field, button and link is labelled for screen readers
• Every product photo has a text label with the product name
• Moving content stays still if your device is set to reduce motion
• The story carousel and delivery animation on our home page have a pause button
• Darker text for better contrast, on the site, at checkout and in our order emails
• Links in text are underlined, so nothing relies on colour alone
• Links and buttons are big enough to tap easily on a phone
• Pages can be zoomed to twice their size without anything being cut off
• The site works in high contrast mode
• Nothing on the site relies on sound

Who this helps

Everyone shops differently. These are some of the ways people use our site.

• Blind people use a screen reader, which reads each page aloud. Every photo, button and form field has a name it can read.
• People with low vision zoom in or use high contrast. Text is darker and pages zoom to twice their size.
• People with colour blindness can follow every link, because links are underlined and nothing relies on colour.
• People with limited hand use, from arthritis to Parkinson’s, shop by keyboard, switch or voice. Every control works without a mouse and has a name you can say.
• Deaf and hard of hearing people never need to phone. Nothing relies on sound and you can reach us by WhatsApp, chat or email.
• People who find busy pages hard, including autistic people and people with dyslexia or a brain injury, get plain wording and movement they can pause.
• People sensitive to motion see a still page if their device asks for less motion. Nothing flashes.

The same changes help anyone with a broken wrist, tired eyes or a dog lead in one hand.
