Burns Adult Grain Free Turkey & Potato is a hypoallergenic dry dog food developed by veterinary surgeon John Burns, built around turkey and potato as the main ingredients with a fixed, simple recipe free from wheat, beef, soya and dairy, the common allergens that cause reactions in a lot of dogs. Turkey is a novel protein source many dogs have never eaten before, making a reaction less likely, alongside potato as an easily digestible carbohydrate source. Burns takes a holistic approach to nutrition, keeping protein and fat at controlled levels with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and no genetically modified ingredients, using quality, locally sourced ingredients where possible.
Burns moved to a new tartan bag in 2026 and now calls this one Grain Free Turkey and Potato. The recipe inside has not changed. Some bags may still arrive in the old Sensitive design while stock runs through, and the last photo shows it so you know what to look for. Same food either way.
Transition gradually from any previous food over about a week, mixing increasing amounts of the new food in with the old to avoid stomach upset. Follow the feeding guide on the packaging based on the dog's weight and activity level. If a dog has a suspected food allergy or intolerance, it is worth discussing with a vet alongside any diet change to properly identify the cause. Free delivery on all orders over 49 euro. Orders under 49 euro have a delivery charge of 6.95 euro. Delivery is available across the Republic of Ireland.
A lot of dog foods claim to be natural while still containing wheat, soya or other common allergens buried in the ingredient list. This recipe is built from the ground up to avoid them, with a genuinely fixed, simple ingredient list rather than a long one hiding fillers.
Yes. Burns is designed for dogs with sensitivities — single-source proteins, no common irritants.
Not by default. Burns is grain-inclusive (rice is the typical carb). The wet food range includes some grain-free options.

The wet food range is highly palatable — most fussy dogs do well on the Penlan Lamb or Wild Fish tins. If your dog is fussy on Burns dry, the wet pouches are a good way in.
Order before 2pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day by DPD, next working day to most of Ireland.
