Whistlers Chicken with Rice and Vegetables is a complete dry food for adult dogs, made in Ireland. Chicken is the only meat in it, 26 percent dehydrated chicken, and the carbohydrate is a mix of white and brown rice. Whistlers took maize out of this recipe and replaced it with that rice blend. The bag also carries salmon oil for omega 3, glucosamine at 1,000mg per kg, green lipped mussel, linseed and a prebiotic, mannan oligosaccharides. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
Comes in a 2kg bag and a 12kg bag. Typical analysis, protein 24 percent, fat 14 percent, crude fibre 3.5 percent, crude ash 6 percent.
Whistlers daily guide, split over two meals. Dogs of 5 to 10kg, 105 to 165g. 10 to 25kg, 165 to 330g. 25 to 45kg, 330 to 510g. Over 45kg, 510g and up. Treat it as a starting point and adjust to keep your dog in good shape. Move over from the old food across 5 to 7 days. Feed it dry or softened with warm water, Whistlers suggest 2 parts water to 3 parts food. Fresh water always.
This is wheat free, not grain free. It is built on rice, so if your dog needs a fully grain free food this is the wrong bag, look at Stanley's Grain Free instead. One meat protein makes it simple to rule in or out when you are working through a food problem, but that one meat is chicken, so leave it on the shelf for a dog that reacts to chicken. Whistlers call the range naturally hypoallergenic. That is the maker's claim, and a dog with ongoing skin or stomach trouble should see the vet before you change food.
An Irish made adult food with a single meat, a gentle rice base and joint support ingredients already in the bag. The 2kg bag lets you test it on your dog before you commit to 12kg.
