The Ancol Black Bungee Shock Absorber is a simple lead attachment built to take the sting out of a hard pull. It is made from durable bungee material that stretches when a dog lunges or bolts, so the jolt lands on the bungee instead of the shoulder, the elbow or the neck and throat of the dog. At 37cm long it clips onto any standard lead on one side and any collar or harness on the other, using a swivel ring and trigger hook so it turns freely and does not tangle. It suits any dog that pulls on the lead, from a young dog still learning loose lead walking to a strong adult breed that tests the arm of the owner on every walk. Recommended maximum working weight is 50kg, so it covers everything from a terrier to a big adolescent Labrador. It is a small, low cost fix for a common walking problem rather than a training tool in itself, and it pairs well with a properly fitted harness for dogs that pull hard and consistently.
This is a shock absorbing attachment, not a full lead, so a lead and a collar or harness are still needed to use it with. It will not stop a dog pulling, it only softens the effect on the arm of the owner and the neck of the dog while training continues. Check the bungee material for fraying or stretch fatigue every few months, especially if a dog pulls hard often, and replace it once the material feels slack rather than springy. Most dog owners try to solve a pulling dog with a stronger arm or a shorter lead, and end up with a sore shoulder. This bungee absorber is a cheap, immediate fix that takes the edge off every hard pull while the real training work gets done, and it fits onto the lead already owned rather than asking for a whole new setup.
No, it is an attachment that clips between the lead already in use and the collar or harness, it does not replace the lead itself.
The Ancol Black Bungee Shock Absorber is rated to a maximum working weight of 50kg, so it suits small dogs up to large breeds.
It will not stop the pulling, it absorbs the shock of the pull so walks are more comfortable, training is still the long term fix for pulling.
