The Trixie Junior Heart Beat toy is a 34cm plush sloth with a small battery unit inside that simulates the heartbeat of the mother. It starts and stops at the push of a button and turns itself off after twenty minutes.
This is aimed squarely at the first few nights. A puppy that has spent eight weeks sleeping in a pile of littermates does not suddenly enjoy sleeping alone in a kitchen, and most of the crying is about that rather than anything else. A warm shape with a pulse in it is not the whole answer, but it takes the edge off, and anything that gets a pup through the first week without learning that crying brings someone downstairs is worth the money.
